After finishing off the video editing and upload of this week’s game development show episode, Eric went out to enjoy the annual Tsukuba Festival (まつりつくば) (the local festival for the town in Japan where Blue Tengu is located). Sure, it doesn’t have to do with games, but Eric owes his game career and a hefty chunk of his fascination with video games to Japan, and the annual festival brings together a lot of energy and great people into the otherwise sleepy town where he makes the show. It’s a bit of an eclectic festival, with Okinawan dancers, an Aomori Nebuta, Akita lanterns, and pretty much nothing “Tsukuba”, but then that is Tsukuba: a gathering of people from all around Japan and the world. If you ever happen to be in the neighborhood when the next festival goes down, give Eric a shout!
