Blue Tengu’s Live Game Development Show – Episode Three

Episode Three

Episode three of our Twitch.tv live game development show is up on YouTube. To make it easier to watch and keep track of episodes, we decided not to split it into parts like previous episodes. This week, we picked up where we left off in the task list for Project Spaghetti, filling out the basic shooting mechanic from last week’s episode (after a few misfires). There’s still work to be done with keeping track of player direction, but we switched over to getting the bullets bouncing off of objects, so the very beginnings of the pinball shooting mechanic are in place. Thank you to everyone who stopped by Twitch! Live debugging is definitely an experience. We hope you find some value in the debugging process itself, but if you want to skip to the results, feel free to use the time codes below to jump ahead! Next week, we’ll focus on the pinball bounce and implement a solution that will keep track of the player’s shooting direction. (As well as plenty more debugging!)

* What Eric needs to work on to make it better next time:
1) Drinking more water to avoid the scratchy throat thing
2) Turning on the A/C to beat the energy draining heat of the Japanese summer
3) Facing the camera!
